São Paulo is a vibrant and energetic city. It is Brazil’s largest city and indeed the world’s fourth largest metropolis with a population of over 21 million in the metropolitan area.

São Paulo, founded in 1554 by Jesuit priests has seen waves of immigrants over the centuries, first by Portuguese settlers (bandeirantes) and later the Italians, Japanese, Lebanese as well as immigrants from all over the world.

At first glance, the city may seem like a concrete jungle made of skyscrapers and too much traffic but  Sampa, as the city is known as to locals, has many of the country’s best restaurants, bars museums and night life. The city is enormous.  Whatever you are into, you can probably find it here.
